Violin, viola, cello and double bass — private instruction for beginners through advanced players, in person or online.

Student playing double bass in a lesson at Strings Keys and Guitar in Flower Mound, TX

The Whole String Family

We teach the full orchestral string family — violin, viola, cello and double bass — which means a student can explore, switch, or add a second instrument without leaving the studio. That matters more than it sounds: plenty of violinists discover they are happier on viola, and plenty of bass players started somewhere else entirely.

Instruction is private and one-on-one, matched to age and skill level. Beginners start with posture, bow hold and producing a tone that does not fight back. Intermediate students work on shifting, vibrato and reading fluently. Advanced students prepare audition and contest repertoire.

Built for School Orchestra Students

Most of our string families have a student in a Lewisville ISD orchestra program, and lessons are shaped around that reality. We work on the music they are actually playing in class, prepare chair placement auditions, and coach UIL Solo & Ensemble entries. Private instruction is where the individual problems get fixed — the ones a director with forty students in the room cannot chase down.

Beginners Are Genuinely Welcome

Starting an instrument as an adult, or starting a child who has never read a note, is not an edge case here. It is a large part of what we do. There is no enrollment fee, the first trial lesson is free, and you do not need to own an instrument before that first visit — we would rather help you size one correctly than have you buy the wrong thing first.

Common Questions

How old does my child need to be to start violin?

We teach age and skill level appropriate lessons, and we start students of many ages including adults. The free trial lesson is the best way to tell whether a particular child is ready.

Do I need to own a violin before the first lesson?

No. Come to the free trial lesson first. We can talk through sizing and what to rent or buy before you spend anything.

Do you teach adults?

Yes. Adult beginners are welcome, and so are adults returning to an instrument after years away.
